About
Arik Air, a leading Nigerian airline, is headquartered at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and has a secondary hub in Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Established in 2006 by acquiring the assets of the defunct Nigeria Airways, Arik Air currently offers domestic, regional, and intercontinental flights to destinations in North America and Europe.
On July 30, 2024, Nigeria’s Ministry of Aviation grounded Arik Air’s fleet . Subsequently, on August 3, 2024, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the grounding of three aircraft in Arik Air’s fleet. However, the airline’s overall operations remain active, allowing it to continue using the rest of its fleet.
Baggage Allowance
Arik Air permits passengers to carry one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 6kg. Allowed items include bags within specified dimensions, one overcoat, an umbrella, a camera, books, a laptop, infant food, carry-cots or a folding pram, a folding wheelchair, and more. International flights departing Nigeria prohibit all liquids and gels in hand baggage. Passengers traveling to New York JFK should anticipate enhanced security measures and arrive four hours before departure.
For checked baggage, Arik Air allows rigid suitcases not exceeding 30kg per piece . Infants are limited to hand baggage only. The airline enforces maximum weight limits for single items of checked baggage to comply with health and safety standards.
Check-in
Arik Air offers web check-in, allowing passengers to complete the process using their reference number and last name after ticket issuance.
